Christian Benjamin, Founder and President of Keeperstop.com
Hi, I’m Christian Benjamin, and I’ve been a goalkeeper, coach, and now the founder of Keeperstop.com, a company built by goalkeepers for goalkeepers. My story—and the story of Keeperstop—started back in 1990 when I was just a young, determined player trying to find my footing in the goalkeeping world.
Back then, all I wanted was to look and feel like the professional goalkeepers I saw on TV. But there was a big problem: I couldn’t find the gear. I still remember standing at a pay phone, a handful of quarters in my pocket, trying to call Adidas International to get my hands on a Montevideo Goalkeeper Jersey. It turned out they didn’t sell it in Connecticut—or to kids like me. That moment stuck with me. I knew I wasn’t the only one out there looking for the right equipment, and someday, I wanted to make it easier for other goalkeepers to find what they needed.
Fast forward a few years, and I built a career in the tech industry, but my love for goalkeeping never went away. I coached youth and collegiate goalkeepers on the side, fueling the passion that I knew would eventually lead me to something bigger. On my 30th birthday, I made a promise to myself: I was going to create a business that combined my love for soccer with my desire to help the goalkeeper community. In 2005, I launched Keeperstop.com.
Keeperstop.com started as a small, scrappy idea, but it’s grown into a trusted resource for goalkeepers, their families, and their coaches. We’re not just about selling gloves, jerseys, or training gear—we’re about being a partner in every goalkeeper’s journey. Every product on our site is tested and selected by goalkeepers (myself included) to make sure it meets the real needs of players at every level.
Being a goalkeeper has shaped everything about how I approach life and business. I know what it’s like to stand alone in the net, to feel the pressure and take the blame when things don’t go right. But I also know the confidence and resilience you build when you keep going. Those lessons drive me to lead Keeperstop.com with empathy and a focus on serving others.
The road hasn’t always been easy. Running a small business comes with its challenges, from navigating the pandemic and supply chain issues to competing with online giants. During COVID-19, we made the decision not to furlough our employees, even when things got tough. We’ve faced rising costs, manufacturing delays, and more, but just like any good goalkeeper, we’ve stayed resilient and ready to face the next challenge.
One of the things I’m most proud of is how Keeperstop.com has become more than just a store. Over the years, we’ve helped more than 100,000 goalkeepers find the right gear, improve their training, and reach their goals. We’re here for everyone—from kids picking out their first gloves to college players preparing for their next big game.
I’m also passionate about education. I’ve been coaching for over 30 years and hold USSF and USC certifications. I stay active in the goalkeeper community, constantly learning so I can offer the best advice and resources. Whether I’m helping someone choose the right gloves or teaching at a camp, my goal is always the same: to help others love goalkeeping as much as I do.
Starting Keeperstop.com was a big risk—I gave up a high-paying tech job to chase this dream—but it’s been worth every moment. For me, it’s about more than just running a business. It’s about making a difference for goalkeepers, their families, and their coaches.
